In the financial industry, financial quotes refer to specific market data and their relationship to commodity or security. In a general sense, quotes may mean the bid or ask of a certain instrument while in the generic sense; quotes refer to the last sale or the last price which the security traded at. Specifically, the bid or buy and ask or sell refers to the current price at which a buyer is willing to purchase shares and the current price at which they are willing to sell respectively.  In addition, the terms “bid size” and “ask size” connote the quantities at which these trades are placed.
