Commentaries
A commentary by a noted economist can carry much weight in the markets and may even influence it. Some commentators that focus on the economy have acquired credibility due to some accurate forecasts they had made in the past. Their analysis and comments are often closely followed by market watchers themselves to see which direction the economy is going in lieu of analyzing tons and tons of economic data. A few economists have so much influence their analysis and opinions carry the weight of gospel truth and often become self-fulfilling. This unique breed of economists is called “market-makers” because their opinions can effectively destroy a company or a particular stock based on their analysis of trends in the market. Some people question this effect since it devalues the analysis itself while others see it as an input in government economic policies and programs.
